HOUSTON — The legacy of President George H.W. Bush is being celebrated this week in honor of what would have been his 100th birthday.
Several events are planned in Houston and College Station.
The 41@100 events began Monday near a monument of the former president in Sesquicentennial Park in downtown Houston. Members of the Bush family attended the ceremony in his honor.
"It’s a celebration of both the public part of his life but also the private, so many of his friends, so many people that worked in his administration will gather here and honor that legacy and keep it alive to a certain extent," grandson Pierce Bush told us. "I think the world needs more of what George H.W. Bush represented, probably now more than ever.”
A Community Celebration Day is planned for Thursday at the George H.W. Bush Presidential Center in College Station where admission will be free all day.
8 a.m.: Grand opening of the Marine One/4141 Locomotive Pavilion
