Protesters opposing Israel's military action in Gaza block Valero headquarters entrance

A spokesperson for the protesters says they were composed of different groups from San Antonio and Austin.

SAN ANTONIO — A group of protesters demonstrated outside the Valero headquarters in San Antonio on Monday morning to express their opposition to Israeli military action in Gaza.

Traffic was tied up around the company's northwest-side campus for several hours.

A spokesperson for the protesters said they were composed of different groups from San Antonio and Austin. They said they were showing support for the people of Gaza and the right of all Palestinians to be free of violence.

Israel took military action in Gaza in response to the Oct. 7 terrorist attack by Hamas, a group operating out of Gaza.

Over the weekend, President Biden urged Israel to show restraint when it comes to its attacks on Gaza. The U.S. also assisted in thwarting a retaliatory attack on Israel from Iran as tensions escalate overall in the Middle East.

The San Antonio protesters said they wanted to draw attention to Valero because they believe Valero is providing jet fuel to the Israeli military.

KENS 5 has contacted Valero and is awaiting a response with comment.

The protestors left the area at about 10:30 a.m. Monday.
