Medical Examiner identifies 14-year-old killed while SUV was doing donuts

Loved ones remember Henry Casas Jr. as a "happy" and "energetic" child. The 14-year-old was ejected from an SUV that flipped during stunts.

SAN ANTONIO — Authorities say a teenager, who was ejected from an SUV that was doing donuts, has died.

The crash happened just after 12:30 a.m. on Saturday at a property on Zigmont Road near Adkins.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Henry Casas Jr. Officials say the 14-year-old suffered "blunt force trauma to the head."

"Our son Henry, known as baby Henry, was a respectful kid,” said Henry Casas Sr. in a statement to KENS 5. “He was loving life and was always happy and smiling for no reason. Henry lit up rooms everywhere he went.”

Casas Jr. wanted to be a Marine, loved ones say. He also had a passion for boxing, sports and dancing.

“He was a heartbreaker also; capturing the attention of older girls, which was an issue,” said Casas Sr. “He was very active and loving. You couldn't not like him. He didn't like bullies. He was a big supporter of his sisters, especially his sister Yanelie who was born deaf and is also active in school. He enjoyed watching her at her wrestling meets and was very proud when she went to compete in state. When they were home, he always challenged her to wrestle to see who could take down who. The noise in our home and our ‘on-the-go child’ … without him, our home is incomplete.”

Police say a total of six teens were inside the vehicle when the driver lost control and flipped the SUV. Deputies identified the driver as 17-year-old Daniel Krupalla. He has been charged with manslaughter and injury to a child.
