SAN ANTONIO — Bexar County officials say no one was hurt when a fire broke out at a home before spreading to two others on the far west side Thursday evening.

Photos provided by a KENS 5 viewer show at least one home heavily engulfed in flames in the 11000 block of Bald Mountain Drive, near Marbach and Loop 1604. Ralph Rodriguez, fire chief for Bexar County ESD 2, said he expected there would be an "extensive investigation" into what caused the fire.

A resident said he heard "loud bangs" and that the fire sparked around 6:30 p.m.

"Nothing like this we ever expect," he said. "(It's) super quiet."

A 25-year-old woman was shot and killed in a 2022 drive-by shooting that police said targeted the same residence that burned Thursday.
