Bexar County authorities searching for suspect who allegedly exposed himself to young girl

BCSO shared video in a Facebook post of the car they're now looking for. According to a neighbor, the car was caught on camera a day after the incident occurred.

SAN ANTONIO — A 9-year-old Bexar County girl was targeted by a man who authorities say "exposed his genitals" to the child in broad daylight on the far west side.

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) said in a Facebook post that it's now looking for the suspect, believed to have been driving a yellow car when he allegedly committed the act and tried to chase the girl in the 4600 block of Jesse Bowman Street, blocks away from Hoffmann Elementary School.

She was walking to a friend's house after school at the time.

Jordan Wagner, is the mother of the friend. She explains the incident happened on Tuesday, when the girl walked by a parked yellow car with the driver,  a man waiting inside.

"He asked her to come over and his pants were open," Wagner said. "She saw that. He asked her to come into the car and sit on his lap and she ran away. She ran straight to my house."

That man left shortly after, his yellow Chevrolet Cobalt was caught on camera by a neighbor.

The video only briefly shows the car in question driving through a neighborhood.

"That little girl, she comes to my house every day, so it's it's awful that it happened to her," Wagner said. " You know, it was a perfect storm. She didn't have her phone on her. She was walking alone.”

The 9-year-old doesn't usually walk by herself. Wagner was told by the girl's mom, that the girl does not feel safe after what she experienced.

Following the incident, Wagner explains the car was seen in the neighborhood on Wednesday, caught on another neighbor's camera.

"He came back yesterday, and drove around looking…probably looking for another kid," she said. "His days are numbered. That’s it. He’s going to get caught, hopefully soon."

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office and the Northside ISD Police Department have both increased patrol in the area.

Northside ISD stated they will also provide any necessary support for the student and her family and that Hoffmann Elementary School will be sending safety and security reminders out in their weekly correspondence to families on Friday.

If you have any information about the incident or recognize the yellow car in the footage shared by BCSO, you're urged to contact the agency at (210) 335-6000 or bcsotips@bexar.org.
