SAN ANTONIO — The City of La Coste is under a public water boil notice, officials announced Wednesday morning.
Customers with the city's public water system are required to boil their water before use, which includes when washing hands or face, brushing teeth, drinking, cooking and other activities, according to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
Officials say the water boil notice was put in place due to well failure and a citywide water outage. Children, seniors and people with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria but all customers should follow the water boil guidelines.
Instead of boiling water customers may also purchase bottled water or obtain water from other suitable sources.
City officials say they will notify customers when it is no longer necessary to boil the water.
