Man hospitalized after shooting on south side, person of interest detained

Upon arrival, police found the man laying in front of a house. But when they went to speak with the owners of the house, they didn't provide any information.

SAN ANTONIO — A man has been hospitalized after a shooting on the south side left him in critical condition.

Around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the San Antonio Police Department responded to a call for gunfire in the 200 block of West Mitchell Street.

Upon arrival, police found the man laying in front of a house, shot in the leg. But when they went to speak with the owners of the house, officials say, they didn't provide any information to police on the scene.

Police said they detained the person living in the home as a person of interest since neither side has provided authorities with information about what happened. The individual who was shot was reportedly transferred to a local hospital in critical condition.

This is an ongoing investigation. KENS 5 will update this story as more information becomes available.
