SAPD: Officer hospitalized after southeast-side accident believed to have been caused by drunk driver

The unidentified officer is in stable condition as of Friday night.

SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio police officer was hospitalized after a crash believed to have been caused by a drunk driver on the southeast side, authorities say.

The unidentified officer was responding to a burglary call and driving through the intersection of Presa and Southeast Military with his sirens on when a dark-colored truck T-boned him, according to officials with the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD). It happened around 9:10 p.m. Friday.

SAPD Sgt. Washington Moscoso said the driver of the truck, identified as Trinidad Huerta, was tested for intoxicants and failed. He was arrested without incident.

A passenger in the truck was also taken to a local hospital. The officer, who Moscoso said has been with the force for four years, is in stable condition.

A dark-colored truck with visible damage to its front end could be seen, as well as a damaged San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) patrol unit.
