SAN ANTONIO -- San Antonio Police Officer John Lee, who was involved in the Feb. 4 deadly shooting of Antronie Scott, has filed a grievance against SAPD Chief William McManus after the chief indefinitely suspended him on Tuesday.
The grievance states that Lee wants his "contemplative suspension" rescinded because McManus allegedly withheld evidence involved in the investigation of the shooting.
According to a memorandum, the investigation that led to Lee's suspension included pictures from the chief's cell phone, which is prohibited by SAPD's collective bargaining agreement. The memorandum also states that Lee was not allowed to review those photos as part of the investigation.
On top of rescinding his suspension, Lee is also demanding that McManus "write a report stating what the photographs depict and have it included in both the criminal and internal affairs case packages."
Lee concludes: "I further seek as a remedy that if any Chief in the future violates this provision, that he be barred from issuing discipline in future cases."
