SAN ANTONIO — Authorities in Seguin say skeletal remains were found along the Interstate 10 West frontage road in Seguin on Sunday, prompting an investigation and effort to identify them.

Seguin police department lieutenant Michael McCann says there hasn't been any missing person reports lately.

“We don’t find deceased unidentified people very often,” McCann said.

Police responded to the 4000 block of the I-10 access road around 6 p.m. after someone called "reporting a deceased person." The remains were found in a wooded area nearby, in an "advanced state of decomposition," Seguin officials said.

“It’s a little early to determine the cause of death," McCann said. "But as of right now we don’t have any reason to believe there’s any foul play.”

It's unclear as of now how long the remains may have been there, McCann says the remains don't appear to have been there for years. Police say it is too early to even determine a gender.

Police in the community are asking anyone who knows something to call the department at (830) 379-2123 or Guadalupe County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-403-8477.
