Radio legend Ricci Ware passes away

SAN ANTONIO -- San Antonio radio legend Ricci Ware has passed away.

SAN ANTONIO -- San Antonio radio legend Ricci Ware has passed away.

Ware, 79, was first heard on the airwaves at KTSA here in the Alamo City in the 1960's.

He then moved to country station K-Buc and teamed up with Jud Ashmore where their humor and commentary made radio history. He later returned to KTSA in 1983 where he worked alongside his son Trey Ware.

Ware was the owner of Pan American Speedway as well as a television weatherman

“I had the pleasure of knowing Ricci, who had the biggest heart and biggest smile for everyone,” said KENS 5 anchor Deborah Knapp.
