'It's unsanitary' | Residents at local apartment complex say they have been without hot water for more than a month

"I'm 70 years old and I shouldn't be going back to the 30's, 40's and 50's, when we had to carry hot water to take a bath," one resident said.

Residents who live at The Summit of Thousand Oaks, say they are frustrated after being without hot water for more than a month.

They also say they are not being fairly compensated for the inconvenience.

Daisy Bunn says she has had to heat up water, one pot at a time, just so she can wash her dishes.

Bunn says the hot water at her apartment has been out since May 30th.

“This water situation has been such a headache,” says Bunn.

On May 24th, the apartment complex sent an email to residents letting them know, the boiler was having issues, in some of the buildings.

“You know, it's unsanitary,” said Darrel Wilson.

Wilson also says the water issue have been a headache.

"There are elderly people living here, who need hot water to keep things clean. You know, you really can't wash dishes with cold water, so I mean it's very sad," said Wilson.

We reached out to management who say after trying to repair the boiler, they have ordered a new one and it should be in any day now.

They also say the hot water issue has affected 10 to 15 units, and the issues have been sporadic.

Some residents say they were offered a $40 discount on their rent for the inconvenience, but they say it's not enough for what they have been through.

“They just like slapping, you know, slapping our face. We pay almost $1,200 a month. There's got to be some type of reprieve.” Said Wilson

Daisy Bun says she just wants to be able to open her faucet and take a hot shower.

“I'm 70-years-old and I should not be going back into the 30s, 40s and 50s when we had to carry hot water to take a bath,” said Bunn.

The apartment complex says when the boiler arrives, it should be fixed within a day.
