SAN ANTONIO — Catering icon Rosemary Kowalski will be remembered in funeral services later this week.
The longtime businesswoman and philanthropist in San Antonio passed away on Dec. 10. She is best known as the founder of Rosemary’s Catering more than 75 years ago.
The company started out providing catering services to private events and eventually expanded to include some of the cities largest events in its history. Rosemary's company was crucial in providing catering services for the whole year of HemisFair 1968. Her company was also given the exclusive food and beverage contract at what is now known as the Henry B. González Convention Center, which continues to this day.
The company later evolved into the RK Group and is run by her son, Greg Kowalski. Rosemary Kowalski most recently served as chairwoman emeritus for the company.
She was beloved in the community and leaves behind a decades-long legacy of culinary excellence and public service for nonprofit organizations in the San Antonio area.
She had been appointed by the Texas Cavaliers Association as the grand marshal of the Texas Cavaliers Parade in 2025. The organization still plans to honor her during the event.
A public rosary will be held Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 6 p.m. at the San Fernando Cathedral in Main Plaza in downtown San Antonio.
Thursday, Dec. 19, the public is also invited to a funeral Mass at 2 p.m. at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts. A livestream of the Mass will be provided by the RK group's website.
Her family has also planned a burial service on Friday.
