SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio mother is on a relentless pursuit to catch her son's killer. This year marked eight years since Isaac Orosco was shot and killed outside his home. Years later, there are still no answers or arrests.
His mother, Janie Edwards, recalls that day she lost her only child. She also remembers knocks on the sliding door from that tragic night.
"All these neighbors were around him. He was lying down. He was shot. It was my son that was knocking on the sliding door. Those are images I can't forget. I cannot. It is just trauma in my mind," Edwards said.
Orosco was shot and killed outside their apartment off NW Crossroads near Loop 410. In 2018, San Antonio Police released surveillance video of a driver in a black SUV. Investigators said the SUV pulled into the parking lot and the driver fired two rounds. Orosco was hit in the stomach and died at the hospital.
"It is hard," she said. "It is hard. But, I have faith that one day somebody is going to say something. Because, I know people do know of what happened to my son, and who took my son's life."
Edwards said the detective originally assigned to the case has since retired. She said the killing is now a cold case.
"They are just waiting for somebody to magically call," she said. "And that is another thing that makes me upset."
Edwards said she plans to contact Crime Stoppers to possibly up the current reward in order to generate more leads.
"Give me peace," she said. "This was my only child. Give me some sort of peace."
