SAN ANTONIO — A man convicted for the murder of a woman’s ex-boyfriend last year will spend 30 years behind bars, according to a statement Wednesday from the Bexar County Criminal District Attorney’s Office.
Jeffrey Klaus was handed a 30 year sentence on Monday for the murder of Daniel Gonzales.
Gonzales arrived at his ex-girlfriend’s apartment on March 28, 2023 where he was confronted by Klaus who was currently in a relationship with Gonzales’ ex-girlfriend. An altercation broke out between the two men and Klaus fired shots at Gonzales.
Gonzales sustained multiple gunshot wounds and ultimately died from his injuries.
“The death of Daniel is a tragic loss. The defendant acted without regard for the victim’s life, and now must pay the consequence,” said Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales. “Our office is dedicated to seeking justice for all victims. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family of Daniel Gonzales.”
