San Antonio police remove suspected squatters seen on security cameras inside vacant home

SAPD says officers responded to a report from an out-of-town homeowner who observed people at the vacant home through security cameras.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police responded to a call for a burglary in progress in a west-side neighborhood Thursday morning to remove two suspects who were accused of being inside a home without permission.

Police say officers arrived at the home on the 9600 block of Gold Hill Drive at around 8:40 a.m. Thursday after they received a call from an out-of-town homeowner who observed people at the vacant home through security cameras.

Officers were able to get one woman to come out of the home without resistance. A second person remained inside, ignoring commands from officers to exit the home. A man identified as Adrian Arellano eventually came out at about 11:20 a.m. and was arrested.

Police earlier said they were not sure whether this was a squatter situation but they were treating it as a burglary in process with a barricaded subject.

It was unknown whether the suspects were armed while in the home. The SWAT team was called to the location to assist.
