Investigators arrest man in connection to 2018 San Antonio cold case

Investigators matched DNA collected from the crime scene pointing to 30-year-old Christopher Allen, who is already serving time in Florida for an unrelated crime.

SAN ANTONIO — A violent murder downtown is now solved, according to San Antonio Police. Six years after the 2018 killing of Tammy Fudge, investigators have made an arrest after police said they found the suspect in Florida.

In March 2018, police said Fudge was found dead at West Travis and North Flores. At the scene that day, Police Chief William McManus described what investigators had seen.

"It was a violent death," McManus said. "There was a lot of blood associated with it."

SAPD said the 46-year-old died from blunt force injuries to the head. Police said her body was dragged to a parking lot and was found lying over a pipe rail.

Several years later, investigators said they've cracked the case. In May 2024, cold case detectives reviewed the case and resubmitted prints to be analyzed in a database.

In September, police said there was a hit. Investigators found a match from DNA collected from the crime scene. They said it points to Christopher Allen who is already behind bars in Florida in another case.

Missing advocate Frank Trevino said he remembers this case.

"It was sad that she was killed," Trevino said. "I wondered for several years if anyone would ever be caught or connected."

Trevino also recalled an interaction with Fudge years before her death.

"I still recall her attitude, positive," he said. "It was a sad case."

Trevino believes a break in a case like this, could give other families hope.

"DNA, excellent work," he said. "The things that have come up in the last few years, the technology, I think a lot of that is going to help these families get their answers."

The 30-year-old suspect is currently at a federal detention center in Miami. According to records, he is accused of having a stolen firearm from Bexar County. He's now also facing a murder charge. Police have not released a motive in the Fudge case.
