SAN ANTONIO — About six hours after police responded to a south-side neighborhood where they say a knife-wielding man was making threats, authorities said a prolonged standoff ended with the suspect in custody.
The man hasn't been identified, nor have police clarified what charges he might be facing.
SWAT team members and negotiators with the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) assisted Monday afternoon on the 1200 block of West Harlan, where people inside a home told police the suspect arrived just before 3 p.m. and started acting "erratically" with the knife, according to Sgt. Ricardo Guzman. Police said the residence wasn't his home, but that he had "known acquaintances" inside.
Those inside were able to escape, Guzman said, leaving the suspect alone inside before he eventually surrendered.
