SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Preparatory Schools announced it has terminated former Superintendent Stephanie Hall-Furman after an investigation into allegations of misconduct.

The investigation was initiated following concerns raised back in August of 2023. She was placed on paid administrative leave on Aug. 24, 2023 while the allegations were investigated.

According to SA Prep, the investigation found inadequacies in maintaining criminal history record reviews, possible misuse of school credit for third-party benefits, unapproved contract negotiations, employment of personnel without required credentials and unauthorized access to school facilities.

"As a founding board member and the current unpaid Interim Superintendent of SA Prep, I am deeply committed to insuring our school upholds the highest standards of integrity and educational excellence," said Xavier Toson, Board Chair and Interim Superintendent. "We take these findings seriously and are implementing robust actions to enhance our operational protocols and governance."

SA Prep said the Board of Directors has initiated several corrective actions, starting with the termination of Ms. Hall-Furman, reinforced compliance with educational standards, implementation of stringent security protocols and the establishment of enhanced oversight mechanisms for financial transactions and contracts.

School officials said Hall-Furman was terminated on January 3, 2024 after the board's review of the investigative report.

"The Board of Directors applauds Ms. Hall-Furman for her many positive attributes leading to the flourishing of so many students, but these instances of misconduct have compromised the Board's confidence in her  ability to continue to lead."
