SAN ANTONIO — Heartbreak on the southeast-side of San Antonio as a pest control business is left without a way to service its customers.
Early Tuesday morning, the company's only work truck was stolen.
“He doesn't realize what he did. He didn't just take a truck, he took a dream," said Steve Martin, Owner/Operator of Ecotopia Pest Control.
Martin woke up to a nightmare Tuesday morning after his work truck was stolen a neighborhood on Blue Oak Pass, near southeast Military Drive.
“I look on the camera and I see this guy simply go to my truck and take off with my life, my everything, everything I worked for you just took it," said Martin.
Martin says his truck was locked but the suspect was able to get into the truck and drive away in 30 seconds. Martin says police told him that the suspect may have had a master key.
“For someone to just take it from you, everything you ever worked for, it’s not right and people don’t understand what it takes to get things," said Martin.
Martin says he runs a one-man operation, alongside his wife. Martin uses the truck to run his business and it was filled with all the equipment and products he needs to service customers.
Martin says the business is his only source of income and the theft has caused him to reschedule appointments.
The truck is a 2007 white Dodge Ram, with the green Ecotopia Logo on both sides of the doors. If you see the truck, you're urged to call San Antonio Police.
“To get the truck back would mean the continuation of my dream. To get a truck back would be the opportunity to provide a better future," said Martin. "You know, I come from nothing. I was homeless for two years at one point. I had to do it the hard way.”
