SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio firefighters responded to a vacant house fire Monday afternoon in the city's west-side.

SAFD said crews arrived at the home on the 1100 block of South Hamilton Avenue to find nearly half the structure completely engulfed in flames.

Officials said the fire appears to have started in what used to be the garage since that is where most of the damage occurred. The house is close to being a total loss.

Firefighters were able to quickly put out the flames, according to officials, and no other nearby structures were damaged.

It is unknown at this time what caused the fire but officials say it is possible there were squatters inside the vacant home. No injuries were reported.
