SAN ANTONIO — San Antonians have been dealing with lots of cloudy and hazy skies the past few days but weather changes are on the way just in time for Mother's Day weekend.
The hazy skies will be a common occurrence as smoke from agricultural burning in Mexico and Central America will travel to our area until June. In addition high humidity will make your time outdoors feel quite uncomfortable.
Luckily, San Antonio is expecting a front that will bring some cooler, drier air this week and shower activity by the weekend.
Here's what San Antonians can expect:
Thursday (High 93 and Low 75): Morning fog is possible as humidity stays high. North Bexar County is in a level 2 out 5 for severe weather as a front moves close to our area. Scattered showers and storms are possible during the afternoon.
One weather model is displaying a line of thunderstorm activity along I-35 around 5 p.m. but most of the activity stays north of San Antonio. By the evening most of the rain should move out.
Friday (High 86 and Low 73): A partly cloudy and breezy day is in store with winds around 20 mph and gusts at 25 mph. Temperatures will not be as warm as they were on Thursday. San Antonio will stay out of the 90s.
Saturday (High 82 and Low 69): A cutoff low will develop in the southwest kicking up some upper level energy our way allowing for the development of shower activity. One weather model keeps rain around the San Antonio area with a 30 percent chance of showers. Better chances of rain will are on Mother's Day.
Mother's Day (High 81 and Low 67): As an upper level low gets closer to our area rain chances will increase. Showers and a possible storm could begin around the afternoon through the evening. No severe weather is expected at this time but San Antonians might want to have an indoor spot for Mother's Day plans just in case of showers.
Next week rain chances will stay in the forecast through Monday then the rest of the week is expected to be sunny with highs in the 80s.
