San Antonio Zoo to host sensory-friendly Night for 'Zoo Lights'

The sensory-friendly night at Zoo Lights, Powered by CPS Energy, is aimed at providing a quieter and more inclusive experience for all visitors.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Zoo is happy to announce a special event this holiday season aimed at providing a quieter and more inclusive experience for all visitors.

On Monday, November 20, Sensory-Friendly Night at Zoo Lights, Powered by CPS Energy, will feature a range of accommodations designed to ensure that all individuals, including those with sensory sensitivities, can enjoy the magic of Zoo Lights in their own way.

The zoo is collabering with KultureCity, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating sensory-inclusive environments, and has implemented some measures to make the event more accessible, including designated quiet zones and headphone zones throughout the zoo. This will allow visitors to find calm and peace when they need it.

They will also have sensory bags which contain noise-canceling headphones, fidget tools, and verbal cue cards available for checkout at the zoo entrance with a valid I.D., generously provided by the Alamo.

The celebration promises quieter music, limited flashing lights, and additional quiet areas, creating a more comfortable environment for those seeking a sensory-friendly experience.

From Water Wonderland to Starry Safari, Candy Lane to Peppermint Path, each enchanting realm will introduce guests to wonderous photo ops, scrumptious treats, and festive activities that will delight all ages. The brand-new Lakeside Laser Lightshow during Sensory-Friendly Night will illuminate the night without strobe, fog or snow to reduce sensory stimulation.

The event is FREE for Members and included with standard admission and guarantees an unforgettable holiday experience that will bring joy and wonder to all who attend.
