AUSTIN, Texas — A San Marcos man will spend the rest of his life in prison after being convicted of continuously sexually abusing a child.

Christopher Head, 36, was convicted by a Hays County jury on Thursday and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on Friday, according to a release from the Hays County District Attorney's Office.

The evidence showed that Head had sexually abused his victim when she was between the ages of 5-years-old and 8-years-old. He would show the victim pornography, including videos of himself and another family member, and would ask her to “copy” the sexual acts portrayed in the videos. One of the witnesses, who was formerly a close friend of Head's, testified that he made admissions to him shortly after the victim spoke out.

Head bonded out prior to his trial, but his bond was revoked after his conviction. During sentencing, evidence showed that Head was also a drug dealer, inappropriately touched another child in 2014 and that he had physically abused romantic partners in the past.

The victim testified as the last witness in the case, retelling how she had been affected by Head's ongoing abuse and how she feared that he would continue to abuse other children in the future.

“We would like to thank the victim and her family and friends for their courage and for putting their faith in Hays County jurors,” Assistant Criminal District Attorney Cassidy Story said. “The judge’s sentence ensured that no other child will be victimized by Head during his lifetime.”
