SAN ANTONIO — With a constantly evolving brunch menu, along with creative cocktails, Sangria on the Burg is raising the bar for brunch in San Antonio.

The popular spot known for its assortment of Sangrias, happy hour and dinner, also offers a unique Sunday brunch.

“Brunch is sweet and savory, it’s somewhere we can have a beautiful fresh peach pancake and then we can have a chicken-fried rib on the next dish,” Owner Ceasar Zepeda said.

Zepeda says the brunch menu rotate every week to keep the chefs’ ideas flowing.

“Brunch has become one of their best creative outlets. We’ve been together a long time, some of us have been together close to ten years. My general manager…we’ve been together 14 years. So we have done this for quite a while.”

One of Sangria’s most popular dishes is the Sangria breakfast. Zepeda describes it as a little of everything.

“Kind of your all-in-one. Petite chicken-fried ribeye, chorizo gravy, little small pancakes with bacon, potato hash, scrambled eggs and a jalepeno pecan syrup. It kind of makes everyone happy, it is our number one seller,” Zepeda said.

Another popular dish, and something Zepeda says Sangria has pioneered, is the pancake taco.

“Every week, we do a different protein. So a real thin pancake, almost a crepe, scrambled eggs, queso, jalepeno syrup and the protein will be brisket, barbacoa or pulled pork,” Zepeda said.

Other features of the intriguing brunch menu are the artfully displayed Chicken and French Toast and the double trouble of the Smoked Ham Benedicts.

Of course, any trip to Sangria would not be complete without a taking a “flight”. The restaurant is well-known for its Sangria flights with different flavors of Sangria. The brunch menu offers the parallel of “Mimosa flights”, featuring four different types of Mimosas.

While all these dishes sound delicious, Sangria on the Burg’s keeps its customers on their toes by constantly changing the brunch menu. Before you head out to Saturday or Sunday brunch, be sure to check the restaurant’s Facebook and Instagram pages, where you will find each week’s brunch menu.
