SAPD: Two toddlers injured in dog attack on west side of San Antonio

The dog is now in the custody of City of San Antonio Animal Care Services.

SAN ANTONIO — Police say that two toddlers were taken to the hospital after being bitten by a dog on the west side of town Saturday.

Officers were dispatched just after 2 p.m. in the 4200 block of West Commerce Street for reports of an animal bite.

When police arrived at the home, they found that two girls, a 1-year-old and 2-year-old, had been bitten by a large family dog.

Officers say the toddlers and dog were with a babysitter in an apartment. Police did not say who the dog belonged to.

The dog bit both children, and they had to be taken to the hospital for medical care. City of San Antonio Animal Care Services was notified and took possession of the dog.

The apartment owner was given citations from ACS.

Police say that no criminal charges are pending at this time, yet this investigation remains ongoing.
