SAPD: Driver with stabbing victim inside vehicle hits, kills pedestrian in street on way to hospital

Police are still investigating the crash and have reportedly detained the driver under suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

SAN ANTONIO — A person was hit and killed early Wednesday morning by a driver that was on his way to the hospital with a stabbing victim, according to police.

It happened around 3 a.m. on the Loop 410 Access Road in between Callaghan Drive and Manitou Drive on the northwest side of town.

Police say the person was stumbling across the road when they were struck and killed by the driver of a pickup truck, killing them instantly.

Officers learned the driver was speeding towards the hospital with a passenger who had multiple stab wounds when they hit the person.

Police are still investigating the crash and have reportedly detained the driver under suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

The stabbed passenger was taken to the hospital for their wounds. Police are still trying to find a crime scene for that stabbing.

The victim's identity has not been released.
