SAPD looking for suspects after northwest side restaurant broken into

The El Remedio restaurant on Research Drive had close to $1,000 in repairs after the break in.

SAN ANTONIO — A northwest side restaurant was broken into late Tuesday night.

The owners of the El Remedio Mexican Kitchen & Bar off Research Drive say they need your help to catch the suspects.

The owner says he got a notification around 2:30 a.m. that his restaurant was being broken into. When he showed up he saw that his restaurants' door was broken.

"I was on my way over here in the morning and a little disappointed, you know, But I got a message from my wife. Just said, hey, don't worry about it. Don't start the year like this," said Joshua Palacios, the owner of El Remedio.

Security camera video caught the suspects in action. Remedio described, "You can see that they open the locks, they see no money. So they just they just walked out the room crawling on the floor. They just can't find anything. Not even any money in the registers. We don't keep any cash on hand at the restaurant," added Palacios.

From there San Antonio police say the pair made their way back to the safe and broke into it using a pry bar. The thieves managed to grab $130, before leaving three hours after they got there.

Palacios says it stings a little less thanks to all of the online support pouring in through social media.

He said, "We have a big following and we have a lot of support. So we love it. And we love seeing people, that they care about, you know, our business."

Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact the San Antonio Police Department.
