SAPD: Man dead after getting thrown from his truck, then pinned under it

Police say he allegedly ran a stop sign before colliding with a car in the crash.

SAN ANTONIO — A man is dead after police say he allegedly ran a red light, hit a car, then got ejected from his truck and pinned underneath it.

It happened around 11:07 p.m. Tuesday on West Woodlawn Avenue at Vollum Boulevard just north of downtown.

Police say the driver, a man in his 40s, allegedly blew through a stop sign before colliding with a car. The collision caused the man's truck to flip over, ejecting him from the vehicle, then pinning him underneath it.

Police and firefighters were able to lift the truck and attempt life-saving measures, but the driver died on the scene.

No charges are expected to be filed against the driver of the car. Police say that both drivers appeared to be heading home from work.

The driver's identity was not released.
