SAN ANTONIO -- Police arrested a local man in connection with an attack on a couple on the city's west side.

According to an arrest warrant, 26-year-old Joseph Olivarri was upset that his neighbor complained to police about drug deals in the house where Olivarri rented a room. Olivarri, the victim and several other people all rent rooms from the homeowner.

Investigators said Olivarri and an accomplice kicked open the door to the victim's room, pointed a gun at the victim and then punched him. The victim's wife stood up and Olivarri allegedly punched her too.

According to the arrest warrant, Olivarri ordered his friend to hit the victim again with brass knuckles.

The victim claimed Olivarri fired off one round before threatening to kill the couple if they didn't move out of the home within 20 minutes.

San Antonio police said Olivarri is a known Mexican Mafia member.

Olivarri was arrested Tuesday and was released after posting $20,000 bond.
