SAN ANTONIO — A man is dead after police say he was struck by a driver while walking on the access road of I-10 on the east side of town late Friday night.
It happened on the frontage road of I-10 East at Foster Road around 9:30 p.m.
Police say the victim was walking in the middle of the access road against traffic when he was struck by a vehicle.
That driver told officers they did not see the man, who was wearing dark clothing. The area does not have a crosswalk or any lighting and is not designed for pedestrian crossing.
The victim was pronounces dead at the scene by EMS. The driver called 911 and stayed at the scene, cooperating with police.
Police say it was just an unfortunate accident and no charges will be filed against the driver. The victim has not been identified.
Police had the access road closed off while they worked to investigate and clear the accident.
