SAPD: Man shoots suspected car burglar after his car alarm went off

When he heard the alarm, he grabbed his gun and went out to the parking garage and fired off a shot in their direction.

SAN ANTONIO — A man shot a suspected car burglar early Tuesday morning after he heard his car alarm going off in the parking garage at his apartment complex, police say.

It happened around 3 a.m. in the 9800 block of Westover Hills Boulevard on the west side of town.

Police say the man was inside his apartment when a monitor system alerted him that someone was tampering with his vehicle. He grabbed his AK-47 and his wife grabbed a handgun and went out to the parking garage. He saw two suspects come around the truck, and said one of them had a weapon.

The man fired off a round in their general direction and the suspects fled from the parking lot.

Police say that a few minutes later ,a man was dropped off at the hospital right around the corner with a gunshot wound to his back. 

That man was was transferred from Crisis Santa Rosa Westover Hills to University Hospital.

Police are investigating. It is unclear if the man will be facing any charges from the shooting.

The suspects were not identified.
