SAN ANTONIO — A suspect riding a stolen ATV was critically injured late Friday night after crashing it, according to police.

It happened around 10:15 p.m. in the 2400 block of East Commerce Street near St. Philip's College on the east side of town.

Police say the suspect was riding a stolen Yamaha ATV south on North Mittman Street at East Commerce. The off-road vehicle did not have any lights on and was not street legal, police say.

The suspect disregarded a stop sign and crashed into the side of a Black Honda Accord.

The suspect was not wearing a helmet and was seriously injured in the crash. They were taken to the hospital in critical condition by EMS.

The suspect may be charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, however this investigation remains ongoing.
