SAPD: Teen fatally shot in front of his home on southeast side of town

Police say he was shot multiple times. He was killed just a day shy of his 15th birthday.

SAN ANTONIO — Police say one person was killed in front of his own home on the southeast side of town late Monday night. And at last check, they did not have anyone in custody.

The victim is a 14-year-old boy named Timothy Chavez. Investigators say he was killed around 11:45 p.m. outside of his home on South Mittman Street near Goliad Road. Chavez was killed just a day shy of his 15th birthday.

Nobody witnessed the shooting, but some family members and neighbors told police they heard a car speed off after the gunshots were fired.

A neighbor said she heard seven gunshots ring out in the neighborhood.

“And I could just hear, his sister screaming and it’s just… I could still hear that… it’s just traumatizing,” she said.

The teenager was shot multiple times to his head and upper body and pronounced dead at the scene.

This is similar to a shooting that happened almost two weeks ago on Santa Anna. These are not connected but it also involved a teenage boy killed near his home.

At this time, police still don’t know who the shooter in that case is, but his family hopes someone will come forward with information soon. Police say there were no witnesses to the shooting and no suspects identified or found at this time.

Police are still investigating.
