Owner of Sangria on the Burg reopens as saucy chicken restaurant | Neighborhood Eats

Yes, it's as good as it sounds!

SAN ANTONIO — After its sudden closure last year, the owner of Sangria on the Burg was quick to reassure customers he had something else cooking up behind the scenes. Staying true to his word, he reopened his doors with a new concept consisting of America's favorite finger food: zesty chicken tenders.

This week, Neighborhood Eats is checking out Saucy Birds.

For $14 dollars or less, you can dive right into a basket of their buttermilk bathed chicken strips. For a little more money, you can get a 20 strip meal with your choice of six sauces. But ya gotta be really hungry and a little wild if you're conquering that during the lunch hour!

Talking of sauces, there are more than a dozen to pick from to pair with your tendies. Our reporter's favorite was the buffalo sauce, which is saying a lot, because she is weak when it comes to heat. Aha!

Each basket of tenders comes with steaming hot buttered milk bread. Yes, it's as good as it sounds!

Owner Ceasar Zepeda also brought back a Sangria favorite: the Thai taco salad. This dish is vibrant with pickled red onions, and partnered up with a crisp flour tortilla shell. Top that bad boy with a little Thai salad dressing and you're in for a delicious bite.
