SAN ANTONIO-- Fire engines, tow trucks, flags, all lined overpasses along Highway 281 North.
People also stopped on the side of the road. One of those people was Cameron White, who can relate to the pain of SAPD and Detective Benjamin Marconi's family.
"I'm the son of a police officer that was shot in line of duty when I was a one-year-old. Luckily he survived his wounds."
People watched as representatives from law enforcement agencies made their way to Community Bible Church. Hundreds of the officers coming from around the country to honor a fallen brother.
"There's a lot of emotions. I think it hits everyone in a different way. It’s nice to see the support," said Naomi Arocha.
Others held signs and stood in solidarity.
Over at Community Bible church cars lined the 1604 eastbound access road.
"To support all my fellow brothers and sisters in law enforcement. To be here with them let them know that we are uniting," said one woman from Medina County.
Thousands attended the funeral service.
"The world we live in is a different world. These officers put their life on the line to protect the community they served just to support their family," White said.
White said he is thankful for his family, especially his father who has been an officer for 25 years now.
Similar to the time Marconi served. The 20-year-veteran will always be honored a hero.
While thousands paid their respects Monday morning, at night, hundreds are expected for a candlelight march to show support law enforcement here in San Antonio and around the country.
The Back the Blue Candlelight March begins at 7:30 p.m. in Alamo Plaza in front of the Alamo.
The silent walk will conclude at SAPD Police Headquarters on South Santa Rosa.
Everyone is invited. Be sure to bring your own candle.
