CORDOVA, S.C. — A South Carolina fire department took a moment on Sunday to recognize the bravery of a firefighter who saved an animal from a dangerous situation.

The Cordova Volunteer Fire Department shared on Facebook that firefighter Jackson Giacomarro acted without hesitation when a neighbor said there was a dog trapped inside a burning kennel.

"He immediately did what he has been trained to do and safely entered the burning kennel, accessed the dog, and quickly got her out of the kennel," the department said.

Fortunately, the department said there were no injuries to anyone involved, including the rescued dog, thanks to Giacomarro's quick thinking and bravery.

"We are beyond proud of Firefighter J. Giacomarro and thankful for his fast action," the department said.
