SAN ANTONIO — An 11-year-old student at a school in Schertz was detained for allegedly making terroristic threats and bringing a toy gun on campus Monday morning.

According to the Schertz Police Department, the student at Wilder Intermediate School brought an airsoft pellet gun on campus, a replica of a real Glock firearm.

Upon investigation, police said they discovered direct messages on social media sent by the student, in which they implied their intention to use the toy gun during a fight.

The student was detained for making terroristic threats and taken to the Guadalupe County Juvenile Detention Center.

“Playing with or handling guns, real or replica in such instances, is dangerous and can be deadly,” said Schertz Police Chief Jim Lowery.

Schertz police said they will work together with school administration to ensure the safety of students.
