Local mom demands change after another shooting in Medical Center area

Four people shot at two teenagers on July 11 at the Serene Residences.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A local mom is demanding change after another shooting in her neighborhood.

This latest shooting happened in the 6400 block of Wurzbach Road on July 11 around 7:45 P.M. at the Serene Residences.

Police say, four people drove to an apartment complex and opened fire on two teenagers who were 18 and 19 years old.

Residents in the community say constant crime is not what they signed up for.

"This is happening in broad daylight and our concerns are for safety of our neighbors," said the concerned resident.

The resident, who wished to stay anonymous, has lived in the Medical Center area for years and says she was going to eat with her family when she started hearing shots.

"We heard a rapid gunfire and I looked at my daughter, and I go, that was gunshots, right? Obviously it was and it was maybe more than 4 or 5," the resident said.

The resident says it has gotten to the point where she avoids going out at night. She says this isn't the first trouble she's seen at the apartments.

"I think it was some kids that threw rocks and hit my door and made damage to my door, and in the same week a lady got her windshield bashed in with a rock as well," the resident said.

The resident also cites homelessness being a problem in the area.

She says her neighborhood needs help.

"I just hope that we get some more police officers involved, more units out to check around or do something," the resident said

In the latest shooting, police say the teenagers were not hit and the gunmen are still on the loose.

It's still unknown why the shooting happened and officials say this is still an active investigation. If you have any information on the situation, please give Crime Stoppers a call at (210) 224-STOP.
