Woman shot by employee during altercation at north-side liquor store, police say

The employee is cooperating with police and does not face any charges at this time.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Police say a woman was shot during an altercation with an employee at a Discount Liquor on the 6800 block of San Pedro Avenue on Tuesday night.

Police said they responded to a call initially about a robbery at the location. Upon arrival, a female victim in her 20s was found with a gunshot wound to the wrist.

The victim was a customer at the liquor store attempting to make a purchase when police said an altercation broke out between the woman and a male employee. That’s when the man allegedly shot the woman.

She was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is expected to be okay.

Police believe the victim and the employee did not know each other. The employee is cooperating with police and does not face any charges at this time.

According to the owner, the employee had been working for him for five years, and was a good employee. He explained the employee treated customers well and had a good attitude.

"It was really shocking news when they called me," the owner said. "I still don't know what happened."

Security video will be reviewed to determine if the shooting was self-defense, according to SAPD.

Police confirmed the isolated incident poses no threat to the community.

This is a developing story.
