SAN ANTONIO — A man was killed, and two security officers were injured in a shooting outside an east-side H-E-B location.
The shooting was reported around 1:50 p.m. at the back corner of the store at East Houston and New Braunfels.
Police said a man in his 40s tried to rob the H-E-B with a gun. He took off on foot and two security guards pursued him to the parking lot. Police said the man shot at the two guards, who fired back and killed the man.
The two guards were both shot and are in stable condition, SAPD Chief William McManus said.
H-E-B officials say the security guards who were shot worked for a private security firm. H-E-B officials also confirmed the store will be closed for several hours at the request of SAPD.
On Tuesday, Allied Universal Security Services said that both guards had been treated and released from the hospital.
