Small plane runs through airport fence, ends up on north side road

According to an SAFD spokesperson, the single-engine aircraft ran through a fence at the end of a runway at Twin-Oaks Airport and ended up in the middle of Heimer Rd.

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Fire Department is responding to a report of an airplane involved in an accident on the city's north side.

According to an SAFD spokesperson, the single-engine aircraft ran through a fence at the end of a runway at Twin-Oaks Airport, near Interstate 281 and Bitters Rd.

The plane ended up in the middle of Heimer Rd.

A woman and man, husband & wife in their 80s, were on board. The wife had to be transported to the hospital for back pain. The man who was flying the aircraft was unharmed.
