Smith County firefighters rescue baby from locked car in grocery store parking lot

Smith County ESD 2 is reminding residents that if you find yourself in this situation or you see a child alone in a car do not hesitate to call 911

SMITH COUNTY, Texas — On Friday, a Smith County Emergency Services District 2 crew rescued a baby who was locked in a car at a grocery store parking lot.

According to the ESD Facebook page, crews were at the grocery store for lunch when they were flagged down by a mother who had accidentally locked her 6-month-old child in a car less than a minute prior.

Crew members were able to get the got car unlocked in less than two minutes and the baby was safe.

SCESD2 is reminding residents that if you find yourself in this situation or you see a child alone in a car, especially during the summer months, do not hesitate to call 911.
