Members of the community headed to the southside Saturday to pick up produce and brows Christmas goods from local vendors there.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — While people in the Coastal Bend are likely stocking up for Christmas dinner -- many had to wait for their local farmer's market to get their ingredients.

Members of the community headed to the southside Saturday to pick up their pesticide-free produce from local vendors there.

3News caught up with Riley's Family Farm owner Woody Riley, who is all about supporting small businesses -- not just for the holidays -- but all year long.

"If Corpus wants more small businesses you have to actually go and buy things from them to keep them in business. We really and truly appreciate all of our loyal customers that come to us every week."

Riley was thrilled to see everyone who showed up to the event and showed their support to the small businesses that keep our city going.

He offered some advice for business owners out there trying to keep the momentum, or anyone thinking of starting their own.

"Nowadays marketing and social media is huge that will get your name out there get your products out in front of more people that might stop by on the average Saturday. Put the work in. You absolutely have to put the work in when starting a business, no matter what it is. It requires a lot of time and effort and then just have faith in your product, or your services just stick to it you'll succeed."
