SAN ANTONIO — The owner of a south side San Antonio Tex-Mex staple has announced the restaurant’s closure later this month, citing his upcoming retirement.
Lala’s Gorditas owner Steven Pizzini, shared the announcement to Facebook on Tuesday expressing gratitude to the community and encouraging people to continue to support local small businesses.
“I will miss the wonderful community Lala’s has created with our authentic food and friendly service,” Pizzini said.
Lala’s opened in the city’s south side in March 2019, showcasing the Pizzini family’s recipes including their delicious gorditas, puffy tacos and bean rolls.
Lala’s Gorditas was also featured on KENS 5 as the owner spoke on the evolution of Tex-Mex cuisine and its lasting impact.
Pizzini says the eatery’s last day of business will be December 24 and hopes patrons will come by to send Lala’ s off in “grand style.”
