Man dies after getting shot several times in the back during fight over minor crash, police say

According to police, it started when the suspect backed into a car the victim was in. That led to a confrontation that escalated to gunfire.

HOUSTON — A man died after being shot several times following an argument in a southwest Houston parking lot early Saturday morning.

It happened just after midnight behind a convenience store on Windswept Lane, which is just off the Southwest Freeway near Fountain View.

According to police, the suspect backed into the victim's car and an argument broke out. During the argument, the suspect pulled out a gun and started shooting, hitting the victim four times.

Surveillance video captured the incident. In the video, you can see the victim confronting the suspects as well as the reaction from bystanders.

Witnesses stepped in to help after the shots were fired.

"Other people helped out and wrestled the suspect and got the gun away," Lt. Wilkins with the Houston Police Department said.

The suspects ran from the scene after the shooting.

Police said they're looking for the suspects and they have a pretty good idea who the shooter is. They're asking anyone with information to come forward.
