SAN ANTONIO — A Saturday-afternoon standoff involving San Antonio Police ended around 5:30 p.m. when a 44-year-old man who had been the subject of multiple disturbance calls in recent days was taken into custody.
According to SAPD Spokesperson Mariah Medina, police returned to the 100 block of South Park Boulevard southwest of downtown when the unidentified suspect "posted to social media that he was going to set fire to the home." Officers were also in the area Friday afternoon when the man "threatened to kill his landlord during an eviction proceeding," but left once others were out of harm's way.
Members of SAPD's hostage negotiating team and SWAT unit were on the scene as well.
Medina said the suspect was "known to law enforcement" and had a criminal history, including charges for violent crimes. He has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after this latest incident.
