Stolen ambulance found parked outside home, SAPD says

Police say they received a call about a stolen vehicle and found a commercial ambulance outside a home.

SAN ANTONIO — A stolen ambulance was found outside a home on the northwest side Thursday morning, according to the San Antonio Police.

The incident occurred on the 9100 block of Laguna Falls around 11:00 a.m. Thursday.

Police say they received a call about a stolen vehicle and found a commercial ambulance outside a home.

Officials say the owner of the residence called for police after coming home and seeing the ambulance parked.

"This morning, just looked like one of the guys was in a rush," said Christian Rojas, who lives in the neighborhood. "I just was assuming someone was hurt."

Forced entry can be seen on the vehicle and there was still medical equipment found inside, according to police.

"I've never seen anything like that so I was surprised to see all that [police] out here," said Laura Garcia, a neighbor. "That's kind of scary because obviously that's a necessity. That's for emergencies that people need, so it's kind of sad to see that someone would do that."

One person has been detained for further questioning and no arrests have been made, officials say.

The owner of Stat EMS did confirm to KENS 5, the ambulance was theirs and that it had been stolen from their headquarters on Cherry Ridge Drive around 2 a.m. Thursday morning.
