Store clerk stabbed in the neck after asking customer to turn music down, police say

SAPD and the victim's brother who also owns the store confirmed the victim would live.

SAN ANTONIO — A store clerk was stabbed in the neck at a gas station market on the west side Tuesday morning, according to police.

The incident happened at the Bandera Food Mart in the 1800 block of Bandera around 10 a.m.

Police said a man walked into the store blaring his music and the store clerk asked him to turn it down. That is when authorities say the suspect stabbed the clerk once in the neck.

The victim was taken to University Hospital in critical condition and the suspect took off, according to police. He is described as wearing a black sweater and black pants.

This afternoon, SAPD and the victim's brother who also owns the store, Anup Bandey, confirmed the victim would live.

Bandey said what happened at his store was very sad and in the moment, he was trying to process everything.

"Hopefully this can stop, we can do something and hopefully we can come to peace," Bandey said.

Police are reviewing security camera footage to find out more about the suspect. If arrested, he would face aggravated assault charges, among other possible charges.

If you know anything about this crime, you are asked to call police.
