Suspect attempts to steal cash machine just north of downtown, police say

When officers arrived at the location, the truck was gone and the ATM had a chain around it, but was still there.

SAN ANTONIO — Police say someone tried to steal an ATM just north of downtown early Tuesday morning.

San Antonio Police responded to the 5200 block of Blanco Road near Jackson Keller Road around 4:07 a.m. for reports of a suspect attemtping to pull the cash machine from a concrete barrier with a pickup truck.

The thieves didn't succeed though, because when officers arrived at the location, the ATM was still there with a chain around it and the pickup truck was long gone.

Police located the truck a short time later on Dresden Drive. Officers say it was stolen.

No word on any suspects at this time, but police say it was two men wearing hoodies. It is believed that they fled the location in a separate vehicle.

SAPD will process the stolen vehicle for evidence and fingerprints. The crime scene remains under investigation.

This is a developing story.
